Dungeons of Aurora - Prototype
A downloadable game for Windows
Dungeons of Aurora is my planned tactical roguelike dungeon-crawler with turn-based combat. Assemble a team of adventurers and conquer the dungeons!
Features:
- 5 playable characters, each with a unique skillset.
- 4 different enemy types.
- A single randomly generated room to fight in.
Notable shortcomings of this prototype:
- No tutorial (see controls and ability descriptions below).
- No audio.
- No animations.
- No end screen.
Known issues:
- Going back to the main menu doesn't correctly resets the game. Currently you need to fully close the application and restart it to circumvent this.
- The random nature of the room generation can result in a soft-lock state, where some of your characters or the enemies get stuck behind obstacles with no way to get out. Sadly a restart is necessary in these cases.
Controls:
WASD and Mouse Scroll: Camera movement and zoom.
Left Mouse Button: Select a character/ability or move to a tile.
Right Mouse Button: Use the selected ability.
Left Shift (Hold): Check the line of sight and the reach of the selected ability from the position of your cursor.
Characters and abilities:
Note: All character stats are randomly generated!
Knight:
A durable melee fighter. Best used as a frontline support.
*Swing: A basic attack that deals moderate amounts of damage.
*Bandage Up: A decently powerful self heal.
*Shield Charge: A weak attack that moves the Knight next to his target without consuming movement points.
*Taunt: A ranged debuff that forces the target to focus on the Knight.
*Intimidating Shout: A short range area debuff that lowers the enemies' offense and defense.
Assassin
A mobile but squishy melee character. Lacks support skills but deals large amounts of damage.
*Stab: A standard attack that inflicts bleed.
*Blur: A self buff that gives the Assassin a considerable amount of dodge chance.
*Phantom Strike: A movement skill that teleports the Assassin next to his target. If it's used on an enemy it deals some damage as well.
*Thousand Cuts: A powerful attack that deals damage three times and applies bleed.
*Dagger Throw: A ranged attack that deal damage twice and inflicts bleed.
Mage:
A true glass cannon. Deals huge upfront damage from afar but dies rather quickly in close quarters combat.
*Fireball: A cheap and reliable ranged attack.
*Mage Armour: A buff that boosts the target's defenses significantly.
*Blink: A long range teleport spell.
*Ice Shards: A ranged attack that reduces the target's movement points.
*Meteor Strike: A devastating area attack.
Ranger
A ranged support character. Has fairly low damage but excels in controlling her enemies.
*Shoot: A standard ranged attack.
*Windrun: A self buff that gives the Ranger additional movement points and some dodge chance.
*Take Aim: A self buff that gives the Ranger a large amount of bonus hit chance.
*Chain Shot: A ranged attack that deals low damage and roots the target in place.
*Blinding Arrow: A ranged area attack that deals very low damage but stuns ALL characters in it's range.
Cleric:
A melee support. Has low damage but can heal and buff others.
*Bash: A weak melee attack.
*Prayer Of Healing: A strong single target heal.
*Healing Circle: A decent area heal.
*Bless: An area buff that increases the target's offense and defense.
*Shield Of Faith: A buff that makes the target immune to all attacks.

Install instructions
You should be able to just extract the files and run the game using the .exe file that is inculded, but your antivirus will probably find it suspicious. I promise you it's not a virus, but if you are unsure it's best to delete the downloaded folder and move on. Cheers!
